What's better, an MBA or a regular Master of Business?
-
I saw that they offer both programs in Australia, but am really confused as to which one is perceived to be better. Is there a big difference between the way these two degrees are regarded?
-
Answer:
Generally MBAs are better regarded for general business knowledge and understanding. They were originally developed to give non-business people a comprehensive business degree at a high level. Many business studies graduates realise the MBA curriculum repeats a lot of stuff that they already know. But if you are wanting to get into much more specific fields - say commercial finance, then a masters in finance would be more useful. Generally if you are looking for a niche position, go for the specific masters program. If you want a general business degree, or are a career-switcher, go for an MBA.
