The Tax Declaration form tells your boss how much tax to withhold from your pay. Firstly you need to apply to the Australian Tax Office for a Tax File Number and this link will tell you how to do this: http://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/default.asp?menu=42794 Then you need the Tax File Number Declaration Form. This link tells you where to get a copy of the form. http://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/content.asp?doc=/content/6360.htm Complete the form, adding your Tax File Number, and give this to your employer.

Paddo used to one of the few inner city areas in Sydney that was still cheap, but now it is getting more expensive. Visit www.realestate.com.au and www.domain.com.au for share accomodation. If you are lucky you can find a family that has a furnished room you can let. Less good for parties, but often cheaper than normal share accomodation. Probably you would want to take the train in to work. Maybe 30-40 minutes by train (which is why I am probably never returning to Sydney to work). However the advantage is you can get a green bus pass (which they might be about to scrap) which means you can make as many journeys in the inner city as you want. Then look around that area for somewhere to live. There are still pockets that are cheaper. Try redfern for a nice student filled, yuppie location which, because of its reputation for crime, is still fairly cheap.

Oxford St is a great place to work, paddington is lovely! Living in Bondi, Bondi Junction, Darlinghurst Paddington would be a bus ride away from where you need to go. It would drop you right at the door. These are not always the cheapest places. Bondi is very transient and there are plenty of hostels and room shares are around. There are plenty of other suburbs too like kings cross, surry hills, edgecliff that you could walk there from (maybe 20 -30 mins walk) depending on where you were living. Really anywhere in the eastern suburbs would be ok for you. The tax declaration is something you could pick up from a post office, you will need to get a Tax File Number first which you can get by logging into the ATO office website.
