Is Melbourne really that much cheaper to live than Sydney?

What suburb in Sydney would you live in if you had to live there but would of preferred living in Melbourne?

  • If you wanted to live in Melbourne because of its arts, culture and because you preferred Melbourne people, but had to live in Sydney (for various reasons), what suburb would you choose to live in at Sydney? As in what suburb in all of Sydney would come close to matching the Melbourne experience?

    I agree, Newtown would be the best choice. Full of uni students and arty people.

I am in that position - i wish i could live in melbs - basically coz i love the people and the population - it reminds me of Newcastle without some of the trash and the beaches. Insydney i would choose Rozelle, Balmain, Newtown - mostly innerwest. I love ashfield tho - that's where i am these days i just love the mix there.
