Things to see and do in Brisbane, Sydney & Melbourne Australia?
-
I'll be heading to Brisbane this December, Sydney and Melbourne in January for the first time and wondering what touristy things I should do/see. I know very little about Australia and so tried to research about each city, found out few things, but still would love to hear recommendations. And what would be the best/cheapest transportation between each city (airport or train)? Please let me know, I'll be in each city for 4 days. Any advice is appreciated! Thank you

Hi Lola I used to live in Brisbane so there is more info for that than Sydney and Melbourne but I've added what I can. The best way if you only have 4 days in each city would be to fly and you could use Jetstar or Virgin Blue for these flights. Hope it helps. http://www.jetstar.com/gx/en/index.aspx http://www.virginblue.com.au/ A few of the things you can do in Brisbane depending on how much money you want to spend would be to go to Southbank, Do a Brisbane River Cruise, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, Go to the Botanic Gardens, Climb the Storey Bridge, Go to Australia Zoo and the Sunshine coast, Visit the Theme Parks on the Gold Coast, Mt Tamborine, Balloon Flight at Oriely's. You could do a day tour to Moreton Island or even Fraser Island as well which would be really nice and they usually depart from Central Brisbane or Roma Street Train station. Brisbane is a very corporate town and is quite beautiful but some of the best things to do are around the city itself and on the coast and coastal Islands so it's worth taking day tours depending on what you like.Check out the below sites for things to do in and from Brisbane. Air train is a great way to get into town from the airport and the public transport in Brisbane is great. The Brisbane River City Cats are a fun way to get around too. http://www.tourstogo.com.au/brisbane/tours/ http://www.airtrain.com.au/ Some places to see and things to do in Sydney would the Opera House, Harbour Bridge Climb, The Rocks, Sydney Tower, Paddinton Markets, Botanic Gardens, Bondi Beach, Manly. A sydney harbour cruise is usually a good one to do and there is a hop on hop off service that you can take around the harbour too. Again the day trips on offer from Sydney go to amazing places. The Blue Mountains and Hunter Valley are beautiful and well worth visiting, My last trip to the Blue Mountains I fell in love with the place. Air train is a good way to get into the city from the airport but last time I was there I got a Airpot transfer coach that dropped me off at my hotel front door so this was easy. http://www.tourstogo.com.au/sydney/tours/ http://www.sydneyairport.com.au/sacl/buses.html http://www.paddingtonmarkets.com.au/ Melbourne is a cool place and is known for it's lanes and arcades and alternative lifestyle. The Eureka Skydeck is well worth visiting and Melbourne prides itself on fine food and wine so do eat and drink a lot if that is your thing. Southback is nice and from Melbourne you can go to places like the Great Ocean Road, Phillip Island Penguin Parade, the Yarra Valley, Bells Beach etc. The Skybus is a good way to get from the airport in Melbourne but the coaches are good too and you can book them inside the terminal. http://www.tourstogo.com.au/melbourne/tours/ http://www.airportlink.com.au/ I hope this helps and have a great time in Australia.
