How big is the Acer Arena?

Where is the best place to stay overnight in Sydney if you're flying in for a show at Acer Arena?

  • I'm sending my man to see Top Gear Live with a friend. I'm looking for a cheap(ish)hotel for them in the CBD as I've been told you can catch a train out to Acer. I've never been to Sydney so I have no idea! I'm trying to avoid massive cab fares from the airport to hotel etc.

    I always trust Accor hotels, they have a excellent reputation and different levels of accomodation. IBIS is the cheaper version, Mercure and Novotel are both 4 stars and quite nice and Sofitel (now known as Pullman) is the 5 star hotel. Being such a big chain they have hotels everywhere. You can usually get a room for $150 a night, look into Novotel and Mercure first and if they're too pricey then look at IBIS. http://www.accor.com.au

There is a train from the airport that you can get to the city. It is not far. They can then catch a train to Acer Arena from Central Station (in the city). There are loads of hotels around the city and darling harbour. I would recommend going to needitnow.com or whatif.com to find one.

Cheap is Formula 1 at the airport or there is a Novotel near Acer Arena. The most expensive it is to get out of the airport.(airport tax on train). . Define what is cheapish.

try lastminute.com.au or wotif.com.au as they have good deals. The City is an easy choice though the YMCA is good, probably about a three star its just not as fancy as a Novotel but it offers the same things

There is also the Mercure Parramatta near rosehill racecourse its probably a $10 cab fare and its a lovely place to stay.
