What is operational capacity?

What is the actual total capacity of the Sydney Cricket Ground?

  • I've done some research on two Sydney sports venues- the Sydney Football Stadium and the Sydney Cricket Ground. The Sydney Football Stadium (used to be called Aussie Stadium) has a total capacity of 45,500. However, I'm perplexed about the total capacity of the Sydney Cricket Ground. According to Wikipedia, the total capacity of the SCG is 46,000- higher than that of the SFS. However, according to http://www.worldstadiums.com, the total capacity of the SCG is 44,000- lower than that of SFS. This is quite a discrepancy. What is the actual total capacity of the Sydney Cricket Ground? 44,000 or 46,000?

  • Answer:

Their own website says 46 000.

When there is a cricket match on there are some seats that are located at each end of the ground that are located behind the sightboard..they are not used because you wont be able to see what is happening on the field if you are sitting in those seats, so the capacity for a cricket match is less than for any other event.
