Sydney is a nice place to live :) But it also depends on which part of the place your living in. A lot of the stuff here I notice is more expensive than America, which is a bad thing about Australia. But overall I love living here, I think its best if you visit for yourself and see if you like what you see :) if you have any more questions just ask!

Sydney is a great place to live. Housing in Sydney is expensive but Melbourne, Perth and Darwin are catching up quickly. Once you have somewhere to live, Sydney is no more expensive than anywhere else in Australia. One saving you will notice in Australia is that unlike the USA, we pay people wages they can live on. Consequently you don't tip automatically in Australia. You can leave a tip if you want to for exceptional service but you don't tip people for doing the job they are paid to do. If you want to see some of the things that are happening in Sydney, you should Google "What's on in Sydney".

Australia in general is a absolutely amazing place to live. It's extremely safe, stable government, relaxed attitude, beautiful beaches, breath-taking outback and desert all contribute to its wonderful place. Sydney is a very good place to live, i'm sure you will absolutely love it, however, Australia is considerably more expensive than America, so be prepared. Sydney is actually more expensive than everywhere else in Australia, so save up !!!!! good luck! :)

Nicki, as a traveler, I would like to offer you some advice, with me living up here north of you across the boarder. The best way is to save up some money and take a holiday and see it for yourself like a lot of us have. It's a great place to live, but has become one of the more expensive places. The other thing you just can't pack up and move there, you have to fit in with their immigration criteria. If you can while your still young, do a diving course, you see Sydney as beautiful as it is, isn't the only attraction, there are miles of the Great Barrier Reef, and further north. If you head west to the interior (outback), it's natural and raw. Maybe you can, but you can't really make up your mind until you have seen other places that country has to offer. Don't think for one minute they don't have culture or the arts, they have it all.

I like Sydney, but house prices, transport and other issues make it a city I would prefer not to return to live in. Try many other cities, maybe a small place like New Castle or Wollonggong or the Sunshine or Gold Coast near brisbane. They you have small town or city lifestyle but can easily head in to the big city.
