How to get a job at a call center in Atlanta?

I plan to get a part time job in a call center when i get to Australia. Is it ok that I have a different accent?

  • I am going on a student visa so I am allowed to work for 20 hours a week. I've been working in a call center with American account for the past years so I somehow adapted their accent because I talk to Americans everyday. should I study speaking in Australian accent to be employed?

  • Answer:

They will still hire people with accents. It is not really one of the things they look for - they care more about how qualified you are and if you can actually do the job. As long as you speak clearly (I know English is one of the main languages of The Philippines) and I heard them speak English before - I understood them 100%. It is discrimination and illegal if they don't hire you because of your race but you are protected by the law. Good luck,

Won't make any difference at all Aussie's only get annoyed when they get calls from overseas call center's (India&Pakistan) as we have no idea what they want

I'm Scottish but had a job in a call centre for a while and it wasn't an issue and there were also American accents there too -- it is more important that you are articulate and can talk properly!
