What jobs can an anthropologist major find, outside of teaching?

Where can I find information on Second Level Teaching jobs in Sydney, Australia?

  • I am a secondary teacher and I am interested in moving to Australia (Sydney) to teach. However I am unable to find good factual information anywhere online. I would like to know a good website for teaching jobs, pay scales, etc. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated!

    Louise, two points, but firstly where are you from (country). First point, contact either one of these two The NSW Dept of Education. The Catholic Education System which is quite large. The other source would be to go through the NSW Teachers Federation. Secondly, you haven't stated if you have been granted immigration status, that is one area you should check into. I am not going to bore your with criteria, as you are smart enough to have already looked into that aspect.

You need to check out the NSW Department of Education for salary details. As all government jobs are given out by the department and are not advertised - you need to apply to the department for these jobs (you put in your location preferences, you are then ranked and are notified when a job comes up in your preferred area - this could take 2+ years for a non science/maths job and a year for maths/science). Private school jobs are usually advertised either on the religious newsletters (most private schools are catholic in Australia) or in the state papers.
