Is their still places in nsw to buy fireworks legal over the counter in nsw?

    No. You have to be licensed to use fireworks. They cannot be sold to just anyone over the counter. New Years eve is in the height of the southern summer. Rank amateurs lighting up fireworks just anywhere is an incredible bush fire risk. The authorities are saying that it will be a bad season for them this year. For the sake of ordinary people don't even go looking for them. The Victorian wildfires are just too fresh in most Australians memories for an encore performance. If you must see fireworks in action, watch the professionals do it.

No. If you want fireworks you have to hire a professional company to put the display on for you but you are unlikely to get one for New Year unless it is a big party. Many years ago when fireworks were legal, cracker night was moved from November 5th (Guy Fawkes Night) to the winter because of the bush fire risk of fireworks in spring and summer. (In the UK, fireworks are still set off on November 5th.) Even if fireworks were allowed, if there was a fire ban in place on New Year's Eve you would not be allowed to light light the fireworks.
