Good Universities at NSW?

Can you go barefoot to Universities in Sydney, NSW?

  • I hardly ever wear shoes and would prefer to keep them off when attending uni

  • Answer:

I doubt it'll be a problem. In Australia it's generally less of a problem to go barefoot than in the US, and even there many colleges & universities allow students to go barefoot.

That would be against Occupational Health and Safety Laws they wouldn't let you on campus without shoes.

yes its more common in Australia to go barefoot than it is in the US. Very similar to Hawaii

Yes you should be able to, though you might not be technically allowed so have some thongs and slip them off

no i think you will find that it is not appropiate to go bare footed

you would need to wear some kind of footwear as it is against Occupational Health and Safety regulation and I think you would probably would NOT be allowed on campus without any. Most of the Unis have tarred roadways so it is adviseable. Thongs/flip flops may be an acceptable alternative.

what the hell????? If you wanna go barefoot and nobody's worrying then go barefoot, but if you don't know, then I would definitely suggest you wear shoes! Especially uni's in sydney...oh man, you'd get in a load of trouble!

Never Give Up!

Well I go to University of Sydney, and, usually in summer, the majority of people are wearing thongs (in case you're not Australian, thongs are what Australians call flip flops). You'd probably be allowed to walk barefoot on the grass. In class, I've noticed a lot of people will simply slip their thongs off and be barefoot on the carpet during lectures and tutorials. Despite it being an occupational health and safety hazard not to wear footwear, I doubt anyone would really notice. But have a back up pair of thongs just in case someone does notice. I personally wouldn't recommend it, because it would look weird, and the soles of your feet would get dirty, but there is no such thing as good taste police, so go for your life. I personally don't see the point, though. You never know when there'll be a miniscule speck of broken glass. And it summer the ground does get rather hot.
