What's Australia like?
-
I Always imagined Australia being this really nice warm place with friendly people. I'm from Ireland and lot's of people I know have immigrated there..what's it really like?

Answer:
It depends which part Australia you are talking about. Upper cities like Perth and Brisbane are warmer. Sydney and Melbourne can be cold. I have talked to a lot of people that have immigrated and they say Australia is a lot better than where they originated from and I tend to agree. I've never been to Ireland so I cannot quiet give you a comparison but people here are generally friendly and accepting. There are a lot of people that come from a british/irish background and also a lot of Asian immigrants too. Hope this answers your question.

australia is a peculiar place, we have some of the most beautiful sites in the world, great barrier reef and such, but a lot of people don't knw that each day is a struggle for most australians wether its having to bare knuckle box a kangaroo in order to get your lucky jacket and 25,000 dollars back or , if your a dentist, having some fish just roll up to your place of business and start beating the **** out of you and taking your newly acquired clown fish, however it is nice having a whole continent filled with people who r all called bruce and there r no mountains here so u can see from sydeny to perth with some binoculars, however everyone here is a crook and people think that australia is split into four regions for fun but its actually 4 different gangs turf, and if ur caught in a gang fight you will probably die from being decapitated by a boomerang, that about sums up life in australia, hopes this helps. p.s. we love when u impersenate our accents and call us all crocodile dundee

Marina, this answer is from a non Australian or resident, I'm in Canada, so your going to get my honest point of view. I was transferred to Australia twice, for work, I have also gone back with my wife on vacations. To be also just, I have worked in Europe and the USA, I can honestly tell you you can not find anyone warmer than those Australians (maybe us Canadians). I found the Australians where ever I went were hospitable, very helpful. I always say this they are a hard working people, but they also like to party, any excuse will do, even a divorce party. You think you Irish are wacky when it comes to getting together at a pub with a few friends, the Australians blew my mind. That is one place at the top of my list I would recommend anyone to go for a holiday,

There are a ton of Irish here (in Sydney) who absolutely love it. But even though I've lived here for most of my life, I cannot answer that question. Everyone takes their own experiences out of different places, because we're wonderfully unique. I personally think Sydney is beautiful and gorgeous... but I hate it so much at the same time. There's so much wrong with this city. It's extremely expensive, it's full of people who can't drive, it's full of racist losers, it's teeming to the brim with utter wankers and the Northern Beaches have an extremely pretentious nature... not to mention the outter Sydney regions, which can be bloody depressing. Then there's the mindless, repetitive NSW countryside. BUT! Then you go to Victoria... and you get some beautiful country towns, gorgeous coastal beaches, extremely greatful people, a wonderful major city (Melbourne). Go to Tasmania and you'll encounter nothing but good natured people and beautiful landscapes, however the city (Hobart) is boring and you know the whole place after 40 minutes. There are arseholes and there are great people everywhere. The weather is god awful most of the time. It's WAY too hot in Summer, and if you don't live by the beach you're screwed. Winter is cold, but annoyingly not cold enough. Then again - I enjoy some of those Summer days when the sun doesn't set until 8. You'll have to come here and find out for yourself. I can honestly say - with all of Australia's problems, I'm a pretty damn proud Aussie.
Australia is very nice and so are the people. You just have to get used to the accent. Every morning when u wake up and go out someone will always say hoy mate nice day were having in their accent.
