Jobs opportunities in New Zealand for Asians.?

I have always been interested & searching for job opportunities in New Zealand. Would like to enquire some advise or details from anyone who have been through the process. I am from Malaysia. I would prefer not to go through an agent because there too many complications. If I can get a direct employment from any employer in New Zealand, that would be great and if that is possible. Many thanks for your answers in advance.

Try and find some recruitment agencies who can organise employment BEFORE you arrive. Because sadly many NZ employers won't hire non-western immigrants no matter how well qualified they are or their work experience. They just have an aversion to thing's they're no familiar with.
