How to tell which telco company by looking at the phone number?
-
By looking at the phone number, how to tell it's under which company like Optus, Vodafone, Three? Which numbers?
-
Answer:
You could tell in the early days as the numbers were given to certain telcos and still are...however as was said, now with number portability you can't tell. The only way you can tell now is by calling the number and listening to any automated response if they don't pick up.

Some mobile numbers you can tell. Telstra own 0407 0417 Optus own 0409 Vodafone 0405 0415 0414 3 0430 There are heaps more, these days when you change companies you can keep your number, so it won't guarantee it belongs to that company. What does the number start with? Home phone numbers you can't tell at all.

You cannot easily tell, and Mel, 0409 is Telstra, not Optus, I have had that prefix for years.
