Is it easy to get a job in the UK?

Is it easy for skilled immigrants with UK degrees to get a job in Melbourne ?

  • II've heard that it may not be easy for immigrants to get a job in Australia since their degree is not an australian degree or not recognized. have an MSc Degree in a Computing Field from a decent UK uni and i am planning to move to Melbourne after 2 years of commercial experience .Would I have trouble finding a job there ?

    G'day, You got UK uni background, so I believe that it will be accepted by the Australia companies, especially with your work experience as well. If your company has a connection in Melbourne, then may be a good idea to start sending your resume to the connections. Trust me, it is easier, since they may be able to get info abt you easier as well from your boss. I did that before I moved to Melbourne. Hope this helps. Getting job in Melbourne is not a cakewalk as jobs are limited in numbers and thousands of applicants. If you are born in Australia with Australian qualifications and degrees you have better chance to gain employment. Immigrants find it lot tougher to gain employment especially from Asia and Indian subcontinent though western qualification and experience is given due consideration by some employers and agencies. It is much easier for UK citizen to find employment if they meet all the criteria specified by the employer than anywhere else in the world.

Matey, with your Degree and some experience you'd have no trouble finding a job.It would be best for you to get a job before you arrive.Check-out www.immi.gov.au. You will find that we have a great demand for Computing Specialists-most jobs in IT.My Nephew (in-law) has still 1 year to get his Computing Degree in Manila but I already got him a job.It will be waiting for him when he gets here.Your Qualification is better than his will be.
