Can I get into Melbourne University?
-
Okay so im a senior in a public high school in the U.S.. I feel like I can get into Melboune University in Australia. But I heard if u are going to study oversees it wont work because undergraduate is only three years there whereas in the u.s. its 4. Does this mean I have to go to a college in the states for one year, or is there some type of way i can continue my studies in Australia right after high school (Melbourne Univ) Also i heard if u go to australia directly, u have to do something extra b4 college idk what though? And in terms of life style whats melbourne like? Also for international students, is it easier to get in than citizen students? and is melbourne easy to get into in general? Also how hard is it to get into Melbourne and do they check for suspensions because I was suspended twice freshmen year but asides from that ive been perfect. Never gotten anything lower than an A is school and I take challenging classes

Answer:
Just about ANYBODY can apply for and be accepted to any Australian Uni these days. Education is the last priority they have , the first being to totally rip off any and all o/s students willing, and dumb enough to pay the exorbitant fees the now ''cash cows'' the Unis have become. If youd on't mind paying three times the going rate for courses, then try to on top of that pay your living expenses the Unis are hungry for fools like you. Your work will be graded by non English speaking 3rd year students --as part of THEIR course so just about everybody gets a degree. Australian degrees and qualifications are fast becoming massed produced confetti and very soon the low quality of graduates will see these Diplomas being rejected by any worthwhile employer as the rubbish they are. Dont think Im telling the truth? Go online and search the blogs and forums. Students who ACTUALLY want a decent education here are complaining bitterly about all that I have mentioned and everyone in Australia at least knows that our Unis are simply foreign student money making machines.

You've asked this question before, so I'm just wondering if you've actually bothered to look at the University of Melbourne website. Do they teach the subjects you're interested in; and have you looked at the fees for International students - these are quite high. If you are accepted as an international student, in addition to course costs, you'll need extra money for accommodation, food, transport, books, health insurance, etc. Have a look at the International Students section of the Uni's website which provides all the information you need and, if you are worried about whether or not you'll be accepted, then contact the University itself. That's the only way you'll get a definitive answer. http://futurestudents.unimelb.edu.au/info/international You don't mention when you'd like to start Uni. This is important because the Australian school year have a totally different timeframe to that in the US - from February to November - so you could be too late to apply for next year.
