Taxi fares, should or should'nt they?
-
My sister and i caught a taxi home last night (wednesday 27th august 2008), we got into the taxi, the driver pulls up, he stops the metre, he gets out, he sees that its a flat tyre, we didnt know whether to stay in out out, he calls us another taxi. then when the other one arrived, my sister asked him about the fare, so she paid it even though we had a flat tyre, do u think we should have paid it, because we still had to pay the other taxi driver

Answer:
You shouldn't have had to pay it in full but maybe given him a tip anyway for bothering to call you another one.

I think you did the right thing by paying him.

You should only have paid if you actually travelled somewhere! If not, a tip would be OK.
Just my thoughts
he didn't take you anywhere.. so no. Its not your fault he had a flat tyre.

depends how far he took you, if he took you a little way before he noticed the falt tyre and stopped then yes because you didnt have to pay for that in the other taxi because it was from the distance he already took you if you know what i mean lol so you probably paid the right amount in the end but even so i wouldnt have paid him just for the inconvenience

It wasnt his fault that he had a flat tyre. I think that it was nice of your sister to offer to pay. I do think, however that he should not have accepted the $5

I wouldn't have paid anything. You didn't travel anywhere. The $5 was the flagfall on the meter for just getting into the taxi. The flat tyre was not your problem. If you caught the taxi in Australia you don't need to give a tip. We don't tip here.

Yes you should have paid him. Even though it wasn't your fault, the meter was still running and lets face it; 5 dollars is not gonna break the bank.
