What's the driving age in PA?

Whats the driving age here in Darwin?

  • I am 15 and will be 16 next year in April. I have heard that here in Darwin I am able to get my L's when I turn 16 and after 6 monthes if im good enough I can attain my P's. This is exciting news for me if its true:) I know all the legal driving ages are different around australia so please let me know:) thanks x

When you turn 16, you are eligible to sit the Learner's test and get your L plates. You can either do it through the DTAL program or you can go straight to MVR and take the test (which is easy, some questions may be worded funny though). Doing it through DTAL is a good idea because it makes the lessons cheaper. Once you have your Ls, you only have to be on them for 6 months before you can apply to take your P's test. Once you have your P's, you're on them for two years...there's only one P type, and when those two years are up you get an open licence...but you'll still be limited to zero blood alcohol content for another two years. http://www.nt.gov.au/dtal/
