How old do u have to be to get a job in canberra?

Is it necessary to have a job to get the rental house at Act, Canberra?

  • I m a skilled person who get the state sponsorship for skill visa. I heard that to get rental house ,job is must, as we are future immigrants, So how to get accomodation if we dont have job in initial days? There is nobody to whom we know in Act.

    Usually it is the responsibility of your sponsor to organise accomodation for you. If you are being sponsored by the governement, then you should be eligible for public housing. Otherwise you will have to settle for finding your own place to live. This will probably mean renting a caravan initially or a backpackers hostel. You do not need to have employment to do this but you will need to be able to pay. After you enter the workforce, you will be able to apply for private rentals but you will be in competetition with other peiople wishing to rent.

Until you find a job and have worked there for a few weeks, you will have to either live in backpackers/youth hostels or perhaps you will be able to find a room or rooms in a shared house. No landlord through a rental agency will let a house to someone without employment.
