Best Place to learn Surfing around Brisbane?

• Hi, I am planning to go to QLD. I will be a Queensland University of Technology(QUT) student, anyways I know nothing about surfing. I am 18 years old. Can someone suggest me best place to learn surfing. Note: Please know that I am not a richie rich so I won't be able to pay $5000 just to learn basic surfing skills, and please don't suggest me places where is full of 12 year olds or 51 year olds. I wanna learn it with people around my age. Thank you

  Surfers Paradise would be your best. I see a guy take out several tourists often there. He takes maybe 6 or 10 people and has them doing things on the sand first before heading into the waves. I think he is based just across the road from the main entrance of the beach.It's schoolies week on the 20th November, Wow that's a place you want to stay away from unless you don't mind being invaded by thousands of school leavers. All year around is good for Surfing on the Gold Coast. Many days are great for Surfing just depends on the weather. There is the occassional day when the waves are very small
