Ash cloud from chile stopping international flights in New Zealand?
-
I'm supposed to be flying from auckland airport in new zealand to london in england next monday (the 27th), and am wondering if anyone knows if flights are being canceled internationally or just ones from australia to new zealand and vice versa. So far they just seem to be talking bout flights to lower australia. My airline I'm flying with is royal brunei airlines. So has anyone just recently flown to london from NZ or from NZ to london? or anyone know bout what flights are being affected and how long roughly the flights will be down?

Answer:
No point asking your airline, they have your money now you'll never be able to get hold of them on the phone. Try the airport departures board - http://www.aucklandairport.co.nz/FlightInformation/InternationalArrivalsAndDepartures.aspx Will give you an idea of how things are going. You'll probably be okay on Brunei, it's only the lazy Aussie airlines taking a sickie.

i've just come on that flight a week ago and its unaffected. i'll be returning (from KL) on the same Royal Brunei BSB-Auckland connection on monday and I havent heard of any issues. the ash is probably getting more media coverage than is warranted, only some NZ domestic and trans-tasman flights are affected and only with some airlines - air NZ is still flying all routes. to date no long haul flights have had any problems. you'll be fine

It's being evaluated on a day to day basis, even hour to hour. The best bet would be to phone your airline and find out what they are doing with their flights. Air New Zealand has continued to fly at a lower altitude, to Australia all through this, but Qantas and Jet Star have cancelled flights. Ring your airline.

Think its just ones from new Zealand and Australia. Hopefully the cloud will be gone by next week.

Why don't you ask your airline?
