Verdun and Aldgate are wonderful Mt Barker and Healthfield aren't so nice, from what I have heard, used to be famous for some bad kids and too much dope, but that could have changed. I think Stirling and Aldgate are great, but can be a little expensive if you're looking to buy. If your husband doesn't mind driving to work, Belair and Genalta are also very nice and closer to the city. I also like Basket Range.

Gee all the towns are great. Maybe Stirling - not so far from town. Oakbank is nice too - lots of space for kids.

All the hills villages are good. My brother raised his four in Mt Barker and it is delightful up there. You should shop around as prices are going up but the right house for you will be up there somewhere. Choose the house you want wherever it is, the village will be fine.

My brother in law lives in Lobethal and is raising 2 kids there. He Loves it. I think it's a pretty town and has good schools. Hahrndorf is pretty too but don't really know much about it.

You shouldnt have a problem around the hills towns anywhere, they are all nice. Oakbank, Verdun, Hahndorf, Summertown, they are all fine towns, Birdwood is really great to and has a nice school. Cheers.

My Mother used to teach in Heathfield. They used to live in Aldgate. Nice little town. Lots of youth problems there lately though. However, I would recommend Oakbank now, because it is good for wide open spaces, it's accesible to the Freeway - travel would be very quick. You'd only have to contend with the race meeting each Easter, but that's only once a year. Oakbank is within 15 minutes of the city, less than 5 minutes from Hahndorf and is very pleasant. I think Heathfield would only be around 10 minutes travel. If you don't mind travelling a little further though, Woodside is also nice it also has lots of space. Anywhere in the Hills wont be cheap. Be warned!
