Are staff who work in a hotel in Ireland entitled to extra pay on sundays or time of in leiu?

No. Sher don't the people who stay in hotels need their sausage and rasher on a Sunday morning as well? And don't they need clean sheets also? We like to make life easier for hotel staff because we take the sheets, pillowcases, blankets, duvets and bath towels home with us.

John is right. The only way you would get extra pay or time off in lieu is if the Sunday in question falls over a public holiday, and you would only be entitled to it if the hotel you work in recognises the holiday, but due to the business of a hotel, they generally don't recognise any public or bank holidays, because obviously this is their busiest time.

You must work 39hrs, or whatever amount of hours you are contracted to before you are entitled to overtime pay or time off in leiu. The hotel industry is geared for Sundays, weekends and Bank holidays - That's when they make their hay - when the sun shines so to speak... That's the Business you are in.... You don't hear of many priests complaining about working Sundays do you??
