Do I need a student visa to study in Ireland?

Do I need a Visa to travel to cork in Ireland?

  • I am holding student Visa to study at UK now. For some reason I have to attend some meetings at Cork. I am wandering do I need Visa to travel to Cork in Ireland? Thank you in advance.

  • Answer:

You can just travel to Cork if your country is listed here. http://foreignaffairs.gov.ie/home/index.aspx?id=8777 .. If not you will need to get an Irish visa prior to travel. The application can be filled online and be submitted to the Irish Embassy. http://www.embassyofireland.co.uk/home/index.aspx?id=33732 .. @ And P: the asker cannot be EU citizen as s/he would not need a student visa for the U.K. in this case. Edit: [based on other answers] 1. Although no immigration checks are performed on land/sea travel and British/Irish citizen can freely travel I would still not recommend to try it if you are not visa exempt based on your country. Should you be discovered as illegal immigrant for some reasons (like having an accident) you risk to be deported to your home country, not back to the U.K.! 2. There are lots of countries whose citizen need a visa for long term study in the U.K., but they do not need a visa to travel for short business/tourist visits to the U.K. or Ireland. Those are Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, or the United States, just to name a few.

Ireland is a different country. A visa for the U.K. has no relevance to it. Basically, if you needed one to enter the U.K. in the first place, you can safely assume you are from a country whose nationals will also need a(nother) visa to enter Ireland too.

Depends, if u can manage to get the ferry from fishgaurd in wales to Rosslare and then get a bus to Cork. you will be grand, as iv gone over on it b4, and when ever i go with a friend as a car passanger I wasnt even asked for my passport, (only when i was foot passanger) so if u can go to the meetings with a friend who drives a car and lives in the uk, go for it as her passanger, there really layed back on that route! oh or just go to belfast, and then get the train down to Cork via Dublin

usually its not a problem to travel between the uk and Ireland but best to just ring your nearest embassy for your country and just check. Cork is great, have a great time, def finitely worth having a an extra day or two if you can

toosh
