What is PLL digital tuning?

Tuning TV Question: Republic of Ireland Only Please HELP?

• My partner and I bought a new TV last week- a nice Bush 24-inch LCD from Argos. He mounted it on the wall and I set to work tuning it in. The options for tuning were : Auto Tuning or Manual Tuning, so I chose Auto so it would search for the channels by itself, but I was surprised when it only found two. The only channels it found were TG4 and TV3, so I decided to use Manual Tuning and find the others myself. (I was looking for TG4, TV3, RTEOne, RTETwo- I wasn't worried about my Sky channels because I had those sorted). So I tried Manual Tuning but that only found TG4 and not TV3! I had saved TV3 when using Auto but suddenly it was gone. The funny thing is, when we brought our portable telly into the bedroom, and fixed an aerial to it, it picked up all four channels! We DID try using the aerial on the new LCD telly but that didn't make a difference. My question is: What do you think is the problem? The old telly with the aerial is able to pick up all four channels, yet my new telly can only pick up one! I already read the manual back to front and all it advises is to use either Auto or Manual tuning. I've done everything, but it just won't find the other channels. What is the problem? Is it the TV? Is it the aerial? If you can help, I'd be very grateful :)

  I presume that there is no option to select 'Ireland' for tuning purposes? Set your country choice to Australia, not the UK. Australia broadcast on similar VHF frequencies as Ireland and the UK do not. Then do a DTV search and it should pick up the 4 Irish channels, no worries!
