  • Do i need a visa to visit Switzerland for six days? I am originally a mauritian but i have a student visa and i live in Ireland since last three years.

  • Answer:

Yes, you'll need a visa. Ireland isn't in Schengen so your Irish visa doesn't cover you for travel to Switzerland (it's not in the EU but is in Schengen) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schengen_Area My wife and I often traveled via Zurich going to her home country and she could not leave the airport without a visa although as far as I remember she could buy a visa at the airport that would have allowed her to enter Switzerland for 24 or 48 hours but each nationality is different so check with the Swiss Embassy in Dublin http://www.eda.admin.ch/dublin I am guessing you would not be able to avail of the service my wife could have availed of.
