How do I legally move to Ireland to live and work?

Should i move to ireland?

  • I live in the US and I am considering moving to Ireland. If I move to Ireland, where would be the best areas to live? Is work easy to find in Ireland? how is the Govt in Ireland (better than the US?) Are there good areas there where I could get a nice apartment or house for rent for a decent amount of money? How is the community, are the people nice, are the streets safe and clean? And most of all what are the policies on marijuana? Legal, Illegal? Can you attain a cannabis card if it is illegal? Also how are the prices on marijuana, for say a gram? I heard things in Ireland are expensive, can someone give examples? Now on to the how: If I were to move there what procedures would I need to go through to become a citizen there? How much money would these procedures cost? I know some questions are a bit vague, please answer any question you can. Thank you.

You have to get a job offer from a company registered with the Irish tax authorities FIRST while still living in your own country. This is not easy right now, as Irish people are having trouble getting work. Once you have a job offer, you can apply for a residency/work permit in Ireland, but it doesn't mean you're going to get one. Only when you have the job and residency/work permit should you start looking for a place to live in Ireland. Don't come over on spec, it's a very bad idea right now. 'If I move to Ireland, where are the best areas to live?' What are we, a village? You would live close to your work. Government in Ireland is as rotten as everywhere else. Why are you so curious about marijuana? It's ILLEGAL here, possession of the stuff can get you into serious trouble. If you want a dope-friendly country, move to the Netherlands instead - more expensive and a lot stricter in many other ways. I doubt you'd last very long there, either. Things that are expensive in Ireland: everything. A litre of milk is now €1.18 in the shops. Petrol is currently €1.23 per litre on average (3.5 litres to the gallon, do the maths - and Ireland is the cheapest country in the EU for petrol, I believe). You can expect to pay at least €30 per person when you eat out at night. If you're looking for a fairyland to escape to to smoke your dope, keep looking.

Ireland is very expensive. I would say stay in the US for a few more years, as there are no jobs in Ireland, and move to California where medical marijuana is legal. Ireland has the exact same problems that the US has of crime, racism, gangs, traffic, taxes, recession, etc...just like every other country really. Do some proper research online about it.

i know that there is an irish consulate in various places in the us. you can find out how to get citizenship there- im not sure how much it costs- but they have websites and you can ask questions- as for the government from what i know the north portion of ireland is under british control and the southern part is not. dublin is in the southern area and personally that is where i want to go. that's as much as i can answer
