  • What do you think about a single woman couch surfing through Ireland for 3 weeks? I would be going to 7 different cities throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland. My friends and family are concerned that it's not safe, but I really want to do it. I've read about this and I've heard people having good experiences. Obviously there are risks, but such is life. I think the main thing, if you're doing something like this is to be prepared to trust your gut. If you get a bad vibe about someone, don't stay because you don't want to hurt their feelings. Have enough money available to be able to stay in a hostel or hotel so that you're not stuck. And make sure that someone you know, knows where you are spending the night.

Staying with locals is the best way to experience a country for sure. If you're a female traveling alone, you might want to check out a site called Tripping (http://www.tripping.com). They have a bunch of safety features like anonymous ratings and references.

Yeah I'd do this for definite if i was going off travelling. This would be the best way of getting to know us properly here and I honestly think it would be safe (enough) What I mean by this is you wouldn't want to be some naive kid who has never travelled before, would want to have your wits about you. But go for it, sounds cool. If I had my own place I'd offer you my couch no probs.

I wouldn't like to do that myself as wouldn't feel safe would rather stay in hostels...I travelled loads when I was younger but couldn't see myself doing that...good luck, stay safe & have fun
