Is traveling to Northern Ireland safe?

I'm traveling to Ireland in a few months abroad with my university, are the hostels I'll be staying in safe?

  • We are going to Kilkenny, Galway, and ending in Dublin, and will be staying in hostels for the eighteen day trip. I'm going with my school, so I'm assuming I'll be put with others w. the school program. In short, are these hostels fairly safe? My mother is all paranoid now...!

    Haha yeah, they're safe. There's not a lot of privacy in most hostels so don't worry about being abducted. Hostels kinda get a bad rep after that dumb movie came out a few years back. They're pretty much informal hotels with dormitory aspects. But in short, I wouldn't worry about anything, they're pretty safe and most of them aren't out in the boondocks or anything.'I would lock down my belongings though since you are sharing living space with a large group of people.

You are going to go the Ireland, it is one of the safest places in the World to be.....tell your mum to stop worrying ( I know she won't) but seriously Ireland really is a safe place, beautiful countryside and lovely welcoming people................hope you have a great time...................... add: Hey when you are a mum you will understand...she will worry anyway regardless of what you say or anyone else says even if you were staying over night in the home of a life long friend who lives down the road from you............................. the only difference there is she can drive by and/or collect you......it is called losing her baby and all mums go through it.................

My sister spent a few weeks there last year and lived in hostels the entire time. She's alive and well. She also LOVED it there and would go back and do it all over again if she could.
