Who is the best broadband provider in the Rep. of Ireland?
-
I want to get broadband for my home and i am having great difficult going to all the different websites trying to compare them to get the best offer, mainly due to the fact that i do not have internet. Its a dilemma i tell you! Anyway, who do you think is the best broadband provider. I live in rural Tipperary so coverage might be a problem, im looking for obviously as cheap as possible but above 1MB; 2MB speed should do me i think. So what would you recommend? (And could you please tell me how much it is a month, the speed and quality of service etc.) Thank you.

Well, as you know, don't go with Eircom... And those mobile providers are useless too...the trouble we had. We live in a rural area and broadband was hard to come by...nothing was working until we found a local provider. I advise you to go to a local provider. They're reliable and it's easy to fix problems, and they're usually not too expensive. Oh wait, you just said you can only get mobile broadband.! Well, I've tried them all and I can tell you... 3 are absolutely USELESS!!! Oh jesus the trouble we had with them...ringing every day to get them to solve our problems..they were useless. Thankfully we could bring it back within 14 days [go to Carphone Warehouse]. Vodafone is OK, but the speeds aren't great unless you find a good spot in your house. We did, but the spot was hard work as everything was happening there so we gave up. 02 is probably the best. It didn't work well for us because something blocks us from the server or something, but if you can get it it will probably work fine. Go to the Carphone Warehouse and ask...they're very helpful and they will tell you what you can and can't get. Good luck =]

I was with Eircom originally but now I'm with BT with a good home phone package, all calls within Ireland (except mobiles), UK calls, line rental and broadband for €47 a month. I call the UK quite a lot so it suits me. We live in rural North Cork, my neighbour has just got mobile broadband (she has no landline) and she tried Vodaphone first and there was hardly any coverage, very slow connection so she swapped to o2 and its great. I installed it for her (she hasn't a clue lol) and downloaded Mozilla for her as the laptop came with IE and its even faster now she has that instead. She's really pleased with o2.

Ask around for a local provider, there may be one in your area you're not aware of.

Eircom... with them from the start. We had a few problems but they were always happy to sort out any problems. Got a wireless kit free of charge and all!

I don't know much it is, but DON'T GO WITH EIRCOM. We've had nothing but trouble from it from day one.

I wouldn't recommend going with 02. My friend had it, and it was absolutely terrible. I have heard a lot of good things about 3, though.
