Primary teaching in the UK...UCAS system-CAO need advice please!?

  • Primary teaching in the UK...UCAS system-CAO need advice please!? Has anyone done their leaving cert and went to or even put on their CAO/UCAS form that they wanted to do education (primary school teaching) in UK/Northern Ireland..I will be doing that but I'm so confused..none of the teachers are giving me any help and I can't find the requirements for the leaving cert to get into a UK college...Please give me some help! has anyone ever done this (btw, the reason i'm applying for primary teaching in the UK is if my plan of primary teaching in the republic doesn't go-like if i don't get accepted or get the points etc.)

  • Answer:

If you go the UCAS website there's a chart for the Leaving Cert, which tells you how many UCAS points you get for each grade. Look at UCAS points needed for the course you want, then refer back to the chart. Additionally, you'll have to have at least four higher level passes to get accepted, as they don't count ordinary or foundation subjects. Each higher level subjects is the equivalent of a third of an A-Level, and you'll also have to do a personal statement and get an academic reference to apply through UCAS.
