Louis Walsh definitely has a point, and I agree with him. I don't care what you say about these RTE guys, Tubridy, Finnucane, Duffy,Egan, etc, How in the name of God, can they be worth the gigantic salaries which they get from RTE ? even though they are self employed. They get this money for Waffling, pure bull shitting with a microphone. The staff wages at RTE are outrageous, linked with the Civil Service higher grades and Benchmarking, and all the sick pay, service pay and expenses that the better paid Civil Service staff believe that they are ENTITLED to. Sell it off and come down to earth and scrap the LIcence Fee, which is an outrage.

I'm not a fan, he is a bit two-faced and bitchy But.. He does have some fair points about RTE, I don't think it should be sold off, but it should be revamped, the programmes RTE has aren't particularly entertaining and he is right about it being the same faces, but then you have their reality programmes, the All Ireland talent show was just embarrassing.

Like a Fox

Louis Walsh is doing what he can do keep his name out there, he's a complete gossip, and I don't he should be taken too seriously, I don't even think he takes himself seriously. As for this thoughts about RTE, well, he's right, it is a civil service where length of service seems to be rewarded over any real talent. Their add for RTE radio 2FM is evidence of that. But some of their smaller shows, on at ridiculously late times, are good. So, i don't think it should be shut down and sold off, thats just Louis making sure we're talking about him, but I agree it needs changes.

He has a point about RTE, it would really want to **** up its act a bit. However, a friend of mine from Dublin has described Louis Walsh's antics in a brunch place she goes to, in and out talking loudly on his mobile, making sure everyone sees him, and has him classed as Ireland Great Super Diva Ever.

RTE = Celebrity this, Celebrity that, Never heard of any of these " celebrities ". Celebrity bainisteoir, wtf?

NullPointerException

I don't care either way for Louis Walsh, he's a nobody in the bigger picture of the world. He does have a point though. I don't care about the whoopla launch of any tv channel's schedule, I'd find it surprising anyone does as there's more important things to consider in this world... but I'm bored for a few minutes :) RTE TV needs to shed the same old faces...and get rid of the dead wood in there. Cut salaries waaaaay down, bring in the new generation who don't sound like they're from Co. Offaly or Dublin 4. There's a whole lot of unemployed people out there who would like to take the place of them for a much lower price, myself included. The only people I actually like are the newsreaders and prime time/political debate staff.... (really I actually sat there yesterday wondering how on earth the newsreaders prepare themselves with some of the news stories) the rest are nothingness, barr a couple of presenters that have worked hard to get where they are (and no, not you tubridy, you killed the late late show). Get rid of fair city - TG4 has produced far better quality soap than rte ever could, with less money, resources, crap technology and studio space. Bring back proper quality home grown shows that aren't about some annoying lot in dublin 4/scumbag in a tracksuit doing 'jokes' and ripping of some of RTE's own older (classier and better) shows.....and get in decent import stuff. Get those who have produced quality shows back in and work out something decent. At least their Radio programming is that bit better! For years I've seen the daftness and lack of sense of some of the better produced imported tv shows shoved in there at 12.30 onwards or 2 or 3am...but not before you have to sit through absolute shite like those muppets that boozed around the world (or was it Australia), and of course, the same film they showed a few hundred times. I often wondered if they ever actually had a film on that didn't predate 2000. TV3 is not my friend either.... it was good in the beginning but then it went all tacky by bringing in the fake tanned plastic presenters on shows that were utter nonsense.....much how like Channel 6 (or 3e) went. Got to see Northern Expose from the beginning... only for the whole channel to be nothing but a bunch of reruns for the soaps. Lame. But for a national broadcasting station, they at least try. I'd hate it if our national, public funded station was like Paramount Comedy or e4... the same shite over and over and over and over. How many years ago did Friends finish and it's still on constant rerun on e4??? How many more times do I have to watch the same featured 'comedian' on stand up???
