I live not far from Cairngorm and have been up the last few days... Their have only been 2 tows running, one being a main tow and the other a learner style, however the ski-ing conditions have been very good on the pistes. They have had the Kassbohrer's out gromming and shifting snow onto the pistes, however it has started raining today and it's starting to get quite slushy. I expect this snow to be gone in the next few days... We usually get a good bit of snow in early-mid February though, over the last 5-6 years we have had good ski-ing throughout most of February and even into mid-late March. All I can say is wait and see if it snows... If their is snow, it's just as good as any of the pistes on the continent. If you go here... http://www.cairngormmountain.com/website/pistemap2.html ...you can get an animated version of the Piste Map which shows what runs/tows are currently open. The very top tow (Ptarmigan Tow) is a small beginner's tow which was moved from the bottom car park area last year, which is a bit hit miss... It's usually the last run to lose snow, so if there's not much snow its hectic... You can also check here... http://www.cairngormmountain.co.uk/web-cam/ ...for web cams showing the current snow status. Jamie

It snowed recently and there is snow there now, but if it rains between now and then, which it probably will, its not going to be good - skiing in Scotland is very hit and miss. Dont know where you're based and how far you're travelling but if its further than Manchester I would think again. France is a far more certain bet especially a glacier like Chamonix or Tignes.
