How do I flag my SSN?

How do you think a new design for the England flag should look?

  • My nephew has 'Diversity' day at school after half term and his project is to design a new flag for England and write about it. Please can you give us some ideas of how it could look based on the following information. It could reflect all of our cultures and religions It could reflect our environmental interests It could reflect our liberty, democracy and human rights It could also represent the idea that England shares our Island with Wales and Scotland. It could represent the rich and poor It could represent our EU membership Our plan so far is to have a symbol for all religions in Britain in the centre inside a circle of multi coloured stars to represent ethnic diversity. In the top left corner will be a small EU flag. The main colour of the flag will be green to represent our Environmentally friendly nature. And a red and blue border to represent the rich and the poor. What would your ideas be for a new flag? Do you think it would be a good idea to have a new flag for England? Quite a few people say it if it represents everyone then no one will feel left out or offended and it could be displayed more often. 10 pts for the best design ideas!

    I'm thinking a red cross on a white background, simple & easily recognisable. No wonder kids are leaving school without being able read, write or add up they are too busy pointlessly redesigning flags.

It sounds like your nephew's school is run by the Politically Correct Brigade. If people feel left out or offended, they can always leave. England already has a perfectly good flag.

You're trying to represent too much in what should really be a simple design. Symbol for all religeons in the UK? There's about 40. Anyway, don't touch our flag.

we should have a flag which reflects the UK, so i suggest green background with star and crescent, oh wait a minute, thats the paki muslim flag....

Perhaps they could incorporate the words ENGLAND FOR THE ENGLISH in the middle of the flag...other than that, there is nothing wrong with the flag we have...it especially does not need the EU flag contaminating it. You add something like that then it becomes an EU flag and not a national flag...

The basic design can be off-putting. maybe make it colour, put our sybol on it. like the English lion or the long bow

Sounds like an interesting project but that's a lot of ideas to incorporate into a flag. Also, I think the mulicultural thing wouldn't go down too well here in England. Not that we're a bunch of racist monsters, far from it, but we're fed up with the politically correct drivel that seemingly pervades all aspects of our life. We're encouraged - in fact I think it's illegal - to hang the St Georges flag in an office (not that you would anyway). I think the same applies to Christmas cards bearing the Christian cross. Anyway, I'm not a fan of St Georges. I think a nice regal looking emblem, like someones has already said, containing the three lions.
