Want to move to England?

My husband & I want to move to England?

  • See, we both want to move to England, I want to more than him, but he DOES want to. Although, there's just one thing that's keeping us here. He doesn't want to move away from his family. He doesn't want to have to fly a plane to visit them. We both want to raise our children there. When we visited there a few years ago, we fell in love with it. I've wanted to live there since I was a small child & he's wanted to live there since he was a teenager. I don't know what to do, help?

  • Answer:

You clearly have not done your research about visas if you think at 21 you stand any chance of getting one. At least one of you needs at least a masters degree to qualify for a Tier 1 visa. If not you need a UK employer licenced and willing to sponsor you and a minimum of a degree level qualification to qualify for a Tier 2 visa. It is not possible to get a UK work visa for anything other than a highly skilled job. It's not enough to have a job opening at a friend's place of work. The employer has to be licenced to employ non EEA nationals and advertise the post for four weeks through the job centre network and in trade and national press. ONLY if not a single suitably qualified EEA national applies can he offer the job to you. You then have to meet the work permit criteria before you will be given a work visa Unless the job is on the shortage skills list i.e. maths, science or special needs teacher, vet, dentist, specialist science, engineering and medical posts, you stand no chance of having the requisite work experience and skills to compete with the resident market. http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/workingintheuk/

Huh! You can't just move! England is not in the USA, and USA is not the whole world. You will need a visa and a job, which is almost impossible to obtain. Because a UK employer have to prove that there is not any other professional in the whole EU (500.000.000 people) that want to work.

You can not just move to England from another country. You need to have a job and a VISA to come to England. Go to the British Embassy in your country. That's your starting point.

Try Mexico or perhaps I missed the information that both you and your spouse are Nobel prize winning neuroscientists.

Where are you from? Have you even looked into whether or not you are eligible for any visa categories, especially since the govt announced in July an immediate reduction in the number of visas being issued And why would you choose England if you were looking for a country to raise your children? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/6359363.stm http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/5189273/Britain-one-of-the-worst-places-in-Europe-to-grow-up.html http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/7425126/Britain-one-of-worst-places-to-raise-children.html

To get citizenship your best chance is if you have academic qualifications. We don't seem to be very bright in the UK so there is a desperate shortage of staff in science and engineering. There's nothing to lose in applying for a visa, give it a go and see what happens. http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/

Disregard these assholes. I'm 16 and I'm in the exact same boat as you (sort of). I want to move there when I get older. I say, move. Even if you guys will miss your family, you shouldn't be forced to live in a place that you most likely hate (or dislike, at least) because of them. Just make sure to get back at them at Christmastime and other holidays ;).

If you really want that different culture try and migrate to New Zealand. It is a great, young country with lots of what Britain had a couple of generations ago and a land of opportunity, which your own once was.It is English speaking of course, but with a distinct character. It is to Australia, as Canada is to the US. Depending on your qualifications, you are more likely to be accepted there than the UK, which is pretty full to be honest!

Whenever anyone emigrates anywhere one of the major problems is leaving family behind - there is not much you can do about these emotional ties and it is often the reason why many people return to their country of origin maybe one option is to make a plan of regular visits back to see his family and daily contact via the internet
