Where is the place to view the Aurora Borealis in Scotland and when?

• I have never seen the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis), except through pictures. I would love to see one and would like to know where and when is the best time to catch one live. I live in the UK, so the nearest (and cheapest) option for me is Scotland.
