What are the best places to go in Cornwall?

Can anyone share their expreicence of Cornwall(UK) visit on Aug bank holiday?

  • I'm planning to go to visit Cornwall(UK) in Aug Bank holiday. I need to know the following things: 1. How is the weather at this time of the year in cornwall? Weather sites says that it is 16 degrees, will it be good to go to the beaches at this temp? I have never visited any beach before so dont know how it feels like... 2. If the weather is good and it is worth going to Cornwall, which places do you suggest that should be visited? Please reply asap as we need to do planning for this trip in comming days... Thanks in advance. Cheers....

  • Answer:

The weather forecast is nothing like certain as yet: it could be anything, but we've had a remarkable wet and windy summer so far. You could be walking the beaches in and building sandcastles, or wrapped up in storm gear watching the waves pounding against the cliffs (It has its own charm) You need to plan wet and sunny activities... Cornwall is a long county, almost two hours drive from one end to the other if the roads aren't empty, which they won't be on a bank holiday weekend. Nothing like. The nearest nice beaches in Cornwall, coming in via Exeter, are probably Seaton on the South coast or the stretch between Crackington Haven abnd Trebarwith Strand on the north coast. The last mentioned disappears at high tide, which happens with a lot of Cornish beaches. Consult the tide tables.

cornwall is beautiful, spent many a summer there, but sadly our summers are turning wetter and colder, cant promise sunshine i am afraid,i was a few miles from cornwall 2 weeks ago and the weather was 22degrees and we managed 5 days on the beach, but last week the weather was awful.beaches are lovely Newquay for surfing, landsend for scenery, although the scenery is beautiful anywhere, lots of steep hills and rocky climbs,

1. Same as rest of England. It wouldn't be good to go in sea if it's cold! Skip the beach and go sightseeing instead 2. Eden Project if it's your cup of tea, but otherwise Lands end, St Ives, FALMOUTH!!!!, Tintagel, St Agnes are my faves! Aug bank holiday will be so so busy tho.
