Is Oxford an affordable place to live?

SHeffield & Oxford - place in between to live?

  • Partner might get a job in Sheffield. Please suggest a good place to move to halfway or so between Oxford and Sheffield. Ideally need to keep costs to the minimum with travel expenses!! A place with a good balance of city and nature- parks. Thank you.

  • Answer:

Somewhere in the Leicester - Rugby - Coventry - Leamington Spa area. If you want to be able to commute to Oxford by rail, then Leamington is the best as regards journey time and frequency of service, but this is leaning towards closer to Oxford than Sheffield. If you're commuting by car then somewhere in the Rugby area would probably suit better.

Err! You do realise that the distance between these to cities is actually 148 miles. Any place good for both towns will be a nightmare for one or other of you to get to. On the bright side, this is a nice part of the country, if you like motorways. Be realistic. If the job is in Sheffield, move North. It may well be cheaper.
