Best place to live in the UK?

Where is the best place to live thats fun, safe and has work in the UK?

  • I'm a 20 year old female US and British Citizen that lives in the US and I'm looking to work and live in the UK for 3-6 months. Being that I'm 20 I'd like to work and live somewhere thats safe but is fun for a 20 year old and a place that I could actually find work. Any suggestions will help:)

Obviously finding a job is going to be difficult, though you may get help for a temporary job from a temping agency. I am sad, however, that the only recommendations you have had are for London. If it had to be the south of England, I would recommend Oxford, Cambridge or Bristol, university cities and therefore buzzing with young people. Why stop there? Birmingham and Liverpool are fantastic for bigger cities. I would hesitatate to recommend Manchester as it rains a lot more there. Further north there is Newcastle, with a night life that is second to none. The Geordie lasses are famous for going out with blouses down to here and skirts up to there, even in the middle of winter. Close by is Durham, beautiful but a bit quieter. Why not consider Scotland and Edinburgh, almost my favourite of friendly cities? Good luck with your planning and enjoy your visit.

I`m afraid things are tough here in the UK at the moment. Everything is too expensive, and businesses are downgrading due to the recession. Jobs are hard to find even for the locals, twice as hard for newcomers. London is still the best place for a young person, but again, a very expensive place to live. It`s ok if you happen to be rich!

Well anywhere really, but if you want to stay safe, try places like, Devon, Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridge. London is a really nice place to live, but your always close to trouble there, and its best to avoid it. You can find work basially anywhere in the UK. Most of Scotland and wales is quite nice to :

Things are really bad here at the moment. Jobs are thin on the ground. I suspect the only place you'll easily find work would be London, and that's certainly a fun city for a 20 year old, but it is a very expensive place and parts of it are not safe.

no fun in the uk because of its bad weather, but it a good place to learn, make money and improve your life, there are indoors activities everywhere.
