What are camp grounds like in Scotland?

• I'm planning a trip to Scotland for next summer, and rather than staying in hotels, I would like to stay at campgrounds throughout the country. What kind of shape are they in, are they safe, and where are the best ones located that make the top tourist sites easily accessible?

  We call them campsites. They are mostly well maintained and usually signposted. Most good ones have basic facilities like showers and toilets and a grocery shop if you are lucky. Scotland is a fairly safe country, but you need to take precautions just like any where else.
