How do I get a visa if I'm under 18 and want to work in the UK?

  • I applied for a gap year program to work in a UK boarding school for a year (2012) starting in January. However I'm under 18, turning 18 in June 2012. Does anyone know if I can get a visa another way?

    you cant get a visa until you are 18 - even then its difficult and usually requires a masters degree or a job offer from an accredited institution, or a student visa (and then you cannot work for more than 20 hours)

You can't get any sort of visa if you are under 18 unless you are on your parent's visa as a dependent, or you are a full time student on a student visa

You do not qualify for a visa before you are 18. It's difficult to get a work visa over 18 to be honest.
