One way ticket to England, and then taking the train to visit other countries?
-
Hello ! I'm planning on visiting Europe for approx. 2 weeks, from mid-December to end-december, from Canada. Is it possible to travel with a one-way ticket to London (the cheapest tickets lead there) and then taking the train to visit France, Amsterdam, Czech Republic, and so on. And once I arrive somewhere else, I come back to Canada ? The tickets would be bought from Canada before I leave, so I'll be assured to have my flight back already booked. Or is it better to book once I'm there in case I wont arrive on time ? Thank you !! x

Answer:
you really need a return ticket and or a letter from your employer to show customs that you will be going home

Your best bet is to buy a return flight ticket. The immigration people take a very dim view of individuals that arrive with only a one way ticket. - When do you plan to return, and how? Also, a return ticket is always cheaper than two one way tickets. You can buy an "open jaw" ticket to - from different cities for the same price as going to - from the same place. www.expedia.ca For two weeks in Europe, nothing beats the cost of a Eurail ticket. You chose which countries and which period you want to travel. That gives you total freedom to move around. There is very little need to pre-purchase the individual tickets but you MUST make sure that you have seats on the trains you want to go. Note - VERY IMPORTANT - you must purchase your Eurail tickets BEFORE you leave Canada. As long as you can show the immigration officerf a return ticket to Canada, it doesn't matter if the return is from a different European country

I suggest you get return ticket Canada-London, and get your Europe tour ride from London then back. It's cheaper and more organised. I traveled to Brussels-Berlin-Amsterdam-Brussels before, booked one way but my ticket was return London-Brussels. Hope you get ideas from these sites below for your Europe trip...

Yes, it's easy to do but the most expensive bit of the rail journey is getting from the UK to mainland Europe by Eurostar. You might be better to fly to Paris or another European capital. This great web site has lots of advice for getting around by train: Www.seat61.com You can but tickets online for many rail journeys in Europe from www.raileurope.com
