Is it true that people from Philly are not very accepting of outsiders?

Why outsiders seem to have bad views on British people particularly English? as if every other race is nicer?

  • I am British and live in Britain, and all I hear from other nationalities is that British particularly the English are mean, nasty, rude all the time. Its not like its only a few questions about us, every question it has been "why is Britain racist towards...", "why are Britons so rude and selfish..." questions like that, then there is answers like "Brits are stuck up, arrogant, not very nice etc" ... ... There does not seem to be anything good said about British people, just looked down at badly all the time and to be honest fed up with it, well I am British and I will tell you: There is a LOT of nice British out there, not just what is portrayed on the papers and the media In regards to racism very few violent attacks happen, if there are its mainly minor assault, and even then its usually youths that have had too much to drink and hang around shops day in day out in low income areas How "Brits like to moan" about other races...I admit we do, but this is no different than moaning because you keep having to get up in the morning - we like to be an open and opinionated liberal country with the right to my own opinions, and you have to understand we do have a lot of immigrants that only want us for our benefits system and free health care, then you got the ones those Muslims that complain about us wearing a cross and cant say "happy christmas" because it offends the Muslims, when we are British and Christians and that is us British, you cant really expect us not to moan, but I do have to admit unfortunately you do have these idiots that would pick on foreigners because they are foreign, but those sort of kids dont just pick on the foreigners, they would even pick on a British guy because you have funny looking hair or something, you get those everywhere. Its like fair enough the word p a k i is racist if its said to convey unprovoked direct hostility towards them, yeah, thats racist. But its not stopping at that, I can say innocently "I met up with a couple of pakis I met from school", you can tell from the context of that its just a nickname, no different than me calling somebody called Simon "Sime", its just a nickname because we are a relaxed and laid back nation of people, but no they are taking offense to that too, I have even come acrossed an Iranian immigrant I got friendly with broke down in tears because I mentioned about "they are putting a British flag across the road" when there is not at all any need (and this is not a lie), this is what the majority of us British are moaning about, aswell as how people do take our jobs (it would not be so bad if they employed both British and the immigrants because then improvement will double, so we gain double) and those factors aswell, but when immigrants come to Britain they should accept our culture and our own beliefs, come to love us, where we both have the same proportion of human rights, joke along with us etc and MIX with us as long as they respect us and of course we respect them, that is exactly how it should be, NOT "oh he has more rights because he is a foreigner" none of that ****. Other countries riot sometimes over bread sold at too higher price or something, cant us Brits have at least an opinion? (Question to British people): I am a British national who is offended of outsiders making bad comments and opinions about my country and my people, I dont see anyone complaint about how we are always having negative remarks against us, and never positive, as if we are the most horrible race out, arent you besided me offended? Even my mum keeps saying "naw it doesnt bother me I just gets on with my own life", America and most of the world are proud of their countries and their peoples and would complain about bad remarks against their race, why dont we British do the same? British and proud, a non-racist who loves decent foreigners aswell as decent British x

  • Answer:

Because unlike other countries, we tolerate that kind of um.. Sh*t? Mostly, it's just uninformed people who make them sort of remarks about Britain. Which is why I never really gave a damn about what they had to say. Anyway, we tend to come off as rude because, well in my opinion we tend to use irony and sarcasm a lot. There will always be one or two hateful comments towards us, even in the future, ignore them.
