How Many Day Till Xmas In The Uk?

What kinda bank holiday is it on tuesday in the uk?

  • Sunday is xmas day monday is boxing day is tuesday a normal day here in the uk ten points

  • Answer:

Monday and Tuesday are bank holidays, because Christmas day is a Bank holiday, and so is boxing day, however, because they fall on the weekend, we have Monday as a lieu day for Christmas day holiday, and Tuesday as a lieu day for Boxing day. So Monday AND Tuesday are both Bank holidays, due to the fact Christmas falls on Sunday.

Usually two bank holidays are set aside for Christmas Day and Boxing Day. This year, since Christmas Day is on Sunday, the banks wont be open anyway so Monday is the replacement Christmas Day bank holiday and Tuesday is the replacement Boxing Day bank holiday

What`s in a name ? Christmas Day is on a Sunday this year and, because of that, "Boxing Day will be Monday, but since the government allow two days holiday for "the festive period" thanks largely to the unions, both Monday and Tuesday will be national holidays, not just "Bank Holidays" which only strictly apply to Banks, so although Monday is technically "Boxing Day" this will be the "Christmas Day" holiday and Tuesday "officially" Boxing Day" So Easter in 2012 will be..the Sunday following the third full moon, after the full moon following the first Sunday after Christmas, which makes it sometime around April/May Funny it is how Christmas day, the alledged B`day of the Christian "leader" is always on the same day every year, but, to fit in with the pagan beliefs of Anglo-Saxony his death day seems to move around the calendar somewhat randomly depending entirely on the phases of the moon..or..LUNACY

Actually, Tuesday is a bank holiday in lieu of Christmas Day being on a Sunday. If you think of it in terms of already having Sunday off, as its the weekend, we get an additional day off in pay back for Xmas day falling on a weekend. Basically the whole of England (Scotland and NI have slightly different national bank holidays) get 8 additional days off a year, which are called Bank Holidays, although this year we got an extra on for the Royal Wedding. Employers are legally required to give them to you, and you are paid the same as if you are at work. So most people wouldn't not be at work on a sunday, it cannot be a bank holiday. Therefore we get Tuesday instead, to fulfil the entitlement. As we get the day after Xmas day off anyway, as a BH, it means we get Tuesday off too. Monday is still boxing day, and the reason for having monday off is because it is boxing day. Tues is in lieu of Xmas day. (The other BH are good friday, easter monday, 1st of may, whitson, august bank holiday, 2 days for xmas, and new years day.) (IF we were scottish wed get the 2nd of jan off too.)

Its called holiday Tuesday cos Christmas day is on a Sunday, but 2012 is a leap year so people will only get 2 days off in a row.
