Is Essex university any good?

Moving to Essex for University (Colchester), where to live?

• I will be moving to Essex to attend university at the colchester campus, myself and my boyfriend are 24 and would like to rent an apartment in a nice area. I would not mind a 30 minute commute if it meant living in a nicer town? Is colchester a nice place to live or is there nicer places nearby???

  If you go down to the uni off the dual carriageway, uni on your right, down to a mini roundabout with a mini supermarket opposite, my ex and I rented a tiny 1 bed place tacked on the back of the cottage to the left. It's a beautiful area. Look at Great Bentley with its village green, but expect high prices. The best thing is look at estate agent websites and phone. Spend a week at a B+B to look for somewhere. Beware the mental 5 mini roundabouts next to each other! Colchester's great for shopping, it's England's oldest town. You'll love it. Dedham and Flatford mill's over the other side of the Stour.
