Good place to camp in the UK.

Places to camp out in the UK?

  • I was wondering what the restrictions for camping are in the UK. I don't really want to go to a campsite, coz i want it just be a place only for me and my mates to go. So can we just camp in any public field, or do we need a permit or something? We would all be between 15-17 years old, with a group of 10-20 people. Also people will no doubt want alcohol... I imagine it would be illegal to have alcohol though, unless it was on private grounds. Also would we be able to have fires? Of course they would be controlled fires using proper equipment so no grass gets burnt or anything. So is any of this allowed? And if so, whereabouts could we set up? (like not specific places, unless you know of any around MK, but what sort of places, like forests, parks etc..)

  • Answer:

If I see people camping in my field or any of my neighbour's fields, I call the Police immediately and they are removed. The vast majority of those who camp in the countryside without permission leave litter and or start fires that go out of control, and we do have drought conditions currently. By googling campsites you can find official camp sites. The Forestry Commission have some great ones too in some of their forests.
