If Scotland get's independence could Wales then follow?
-
Say what you will Scotland will eventually get independence, in autumn 2014 the Scottish National Party will get have their own Yes/No poll on independence. If Scotland backs independence, the result would inevitably be challenged – and the legal battle could go to the UK Supreme Court, based in London. Equally the SNP would claim moral victory – and it would be hard for London to ignore Scotland's will. This will obviously spell the beginning of the end for the United Kingdom, as a strong Plaid Cymru supporter I would love to see Wales have independence. I think we could find ways in creating an economy that suits our people. We have many resources in Wales that we can use to our advantage. Water, the LNG pipeline, coal, tidal power, etc (Wales creates too much power at the moment, but most of it does not go to Welsh residents); Wales can benefit from her rich resources, instead of suffering as a poor nation. Another good thing about Wales becoming an independent state is that we wouldn't be spending billions of pounds on nuclear weapons, illegal wars and bailing out bankers. What are your views?

Answer:
Very much doubt it. The English speaking MAJORITY would never vote to live in a state, with the chapel going, language mafia types!!!! You have to have lived with them tom KNOW how NASTY they are !! Have lived in Scotland and genuinely believe will NOT vote for full Independence, come the day!!

The thing is, it won't be England that suffers if any country gains independence, it'll be the new independent nation. For example, Alex Salmond is ignoring everything that people are saying will happen, bad things, to Scotland if it breaks from the UK. He wants to join the Euro. A complete idiot if I ever saw one. England will be fine, it's the others that will suffer unfortunately.

Ask yourself this.. Can Wales afford to pay for it`s own up-keep, given that it is smaller than Yorkshire, has no manufacturing base, has no prime industry, and a smaller population than Yorkshire or Scotland. Can it afford to join the €uro, if it gains independence, as it will have to, or stay out of the EU, which would make it a "Third Country" and all it`s imports (that would be everything it needs to survive) will be taxed extra, ..Get real, Yorkshire stands a better chance of independence than Wales

Hopefully, They will both go,If the Ulstermen want, then they can also go. @ Asker, I have no issues with Ulstermen, all I said is that if they want to go it alone, then its OK with me.

I hope so! I am a Scot myself and i firmly believe that both Wales and Scotland where bribed/forced to join the Union. I think that if we both became independent then we would thrive. Just think no more bailing out selfish bankers or supporting crazy english schemes (such as high speed rail ways)! Hopefully Northern Ireland will follow us in our independence. I can tell you first-hand that the majority of us Scots are for independence. We have enough oil to survive on our own for the next 10 to 20 years and even when the oil runs out we make plenty of energy from wind power and tidal power. (we are the most windiest country in the whole of Europe after all!) Independence is just around the corner for both our countries. Both of our countries have rich natural resources and we make plenty of money from tourism and exports. Don't forget that both our nation's have outstanding natural beauty and huge bustling cities. One day my friend we will both be independent. We can survive on our own but the problem is that most english don't want us to become independent. You have it slightly easier than us Scots though as most english hate us with a passion :( (trust me i have been bullied for being a Scot before) My ancestors where driven out of the highlands during the Highland clearances. I am very proud to be the only branch of the family to Escape eviction from our homes. I still live in Scotland and i Truly believe in what Salmond says. If we did become independent then it would mean better opportunities for my generation as Salmond wants 15 year olds to be able to vote. I am only 13 so i won't be able to vote in the referendum :( but i still believe that our countries will become independent one day. good luck my friend and god bless! ALBA GU BRATH!!!!

No, we might take the opportunity to move a little further away. Off you go. (thanks for agreeing to take the 'Scots-Irish' problem off our hands, hope you have more success with it than the rest of the UK did).

Let's hope not we already have to tolerate those wind-bag Assembly members. God help us if the country is completely under their control. The Welsh have played a huge part in making Britain great and in our enviable Parliamentary system so it would a crime to sever links to it. I'm Welsh and speak the language too but I'm not blinded by a misplaced patriotism.

No, the majority of Welsh wouldn't want it, it would be very stupid, it would have to become just another pawn of the European union, and have much less say on things that go on in Wales. But, as an Englishman, do whatever you guys want, i don't care. :)

If it was inevitable then the SNP would have the courage of their convictions and hold the referendum now and they wouldn't be worrying about devo max or giving the vote to children. The majority of people voted for unionist parties at every elec tion, including the last one. The majority in opinion polls have back the union. Even many people who voted SNP did so because they were fed up with Labour, LibDems and Tories, not because they wanted independence. We all know this. The SNP knows this. Time for people like you to stop telling lies.
