I want to move to england but im 13?

ever since I was little I have wanted to move to england. I love absolutely everything there. Right now I live in New Hampshire, which is in New England, of the US. I get great grades and will be going to college in the US (because my mom won't move to the UK, and she won't help pay for my college if I move out of the Country) But I hear lots of English people say that Americans are not allowed citizenship. Is that true? When I'm 18 if I did move to england, would I be hated? Thanks

Answer:
As you are not a citizen of the EEA (European Economic Area) if you wanted to live here permanently you would have to apply under our points system, so you would either need a Master's degree, or a skill, and experience of that skill, that is in high demand here such as in the teaching or medical field...at 18 you would certainly not possess enough experience at all. You can find all the rules and regulations at our Government border Agency site... http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/workingintheuk/ In 5 years time things may have changed but I doubt that they would have changed in any non EEA citizen's favour!

I'm so sorry to say this, but no chance. It would be just the same for me as a Brit wanting to move the other way. Firstly, you would need an immigrant visa. All the info on that is here http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply/infs/inf21pbsgeneralmigrant Secondly, you need to be over 18. And if you get to be able to stay for 6 years, then of course you can get British citizenship as well and that would make you a dual citizen. We wouldn't hate you - at least I wouldn't - some might, but I like my American friends. Sometimes I feel like I need simultaneous translation even though we all speak English but it's fun to me.
The Dark Side
Quit with the' hate' talk! We do not hate Americans. When I was 13 I wanted to live in America where I have family. I am still in the UK and, although I like to vist your country, I am happy to live in my own.

I would come here on exchange before you say something like that. Life is very different over the big pond.

If your mom really loves you, she'll let you go. Of course, she'll be upset because you're going away, but she will respect your decision one day. An American can absolutely get citizenship in the UK. If you haven't ever been to England but are in love with the idea of living there, maybe study abroad when you're in college. You can go for a semester or a year, and see if you like it. If you do, there are lots of universities, including ones in Europe strictly for Americans- there's one in the UK, one in Paris, and one in Rome that I know of. Think a lot before you jump to any decisions. Consider your mom's feelings, but don't let them control your decision. You're only 13 now, you may want to move to Australia or stay right at home when you are 18. Who knows? I'm the same way as you though. Ever since I was young, I wanted to move to Europe so badly, and (six years later), I still do. Perhaps I will. Perhaps I won't. I just wanted to let you know that anything is possible, even you changing your mind, and there are many other people in the same boat (haha, punny...kind of). In response to your details, I'd say anything you want. You could pursue being a fashion designer or take on a career that involves math and write on the side. I want to be a writer, but it is very difficult to support yourself on only writing- same thing with art. If you have a job on the side though, you can write. Do what you love, love what you do, and have no regrets! Life is too short for that. :)

no u would not be hated and ur best chance of moving right now is going through an exchange student program and see how you like England for sure then if your mom wont help u with college then try to get scholarships to help with money and save up with a job

All of the other answers have good points (except for alec's answer). Never ever think that you will be hated coming here. There will always be a small group of idiots that will be mean to people from other countries, that's in their nature and those people exist in every country in the world. Most people you will meet in the UK will be friendly, polite and interested in you. You still have 5 years before you graduate from high school so don't make any decisions just yet. Gather as much information about studying in the UK as you can over the next few years so that in your senior year you can sit down with your Mum and show her it's not just some quick decision but something you have thought about for a long time. You never know, in 5 years time you might have met the love of your life and want to go to the same college as him in somewhere far afield like Kuala lumpar lol. You should come and spend a few weeks in the UK first before you make any permanent/semi-permanent moves. See if any groups in your area offer summer camp opportunities in UK. I know that there are a few summer camps in Cornwall (south west england) maybe when you are 16 or 17 you could spend 3 or 4 weeks in the summer working at one of those camps. It will give you a better idea of how the UK is so that if you decided to come here to college you would at least have had a taste of UK life. The main thing to remember is that you are young and you can do anything, within reason. Your Mum will worry about you no matter where you go, whether you go to college in the next state or the next country or across the world. Do what makes you happy not what your parents want you to do, but do listen to them and take their advice on a few things too. Good luck with whatever you choose to do =)

Take no notice of idiots like Alec Henry. He probably suffers from an inferiority complex and has a very small pen......thouse. ;p We don't seem to have a problem letting anybody have citizenship at the moment In fact, there were rumours during the last government that you could get British passports on the back of cornflakes packets, so it really shouldn't be a problem for someone who wants to come here and work for a living. By the time you are 18, our immigration rules will have changed, but there should still be openings for bright youngsters that will contribute to our economy and our society. You will always come across no-hopers like Alec, but just treat them with the contempt they deserve. Most people here will make you feel very welcome. Finish your studies and graduate from college. Then see what you think. A heck of a lot can happen in 5 years, so leave the decision until things clear up a little for you. Good luck!
