Answer:
I have been to England several times . The last trip I made was in 2006 and I spent 13 weeks there . I found that the country was very dirty (litter). I was witness to many fights between teenagers , also adults ,and when/ if the police were called, nothing was done ,other than telling them to go home . WTF! is going on in this world today? As far as the people , it soley depends on what part of the country you are visiting . I was also witness to money just being thrown about . I was walking into a Sainsbury and as I always do , I am looking around on the ground for any pennies , change , etc... As I was just entering the door I spotted a penny and of course I picked it up .As I looked up there were 4 teenagers sitting there .I entered the store and as coming out with my head down once again , seraching around , low and behold there was 35pence , well you bet you bottom that I was going to pick it up . As I was walking away , I heard the kids laugh and say "she will pick up anything" .. at that time I turned around and smiled and said " yes , a penny saved , is a penny earned " I don't think they quite figured it out . I sure have got it figured though , if your going to throw away money , give it to me .

as countries go with knowledge of foreign countries, america is right down at the bottom. I was born in england to english parents and have lived in america for 13 years. A lot of americans think london and england are the same thing, EVERYONE has met the queen, everyone drinks tea with crumpets, and that we are an uptight, snobby country.

I imagine it too be very stylish and really cold. And soldiers in those tall hats standing around gaurding everything. And people talk normally, not like in the US where people make up words. I would really like to visit sometime, from what I hear it's really beautiful!

I was born in California and studied abroad at Queen Mary University in London three years ago, so that's where my opinion is coming from. So I really think that pretty much people from the United States do not really think of anyone else outside of their country especially, growing up, since we are not exposed to the outside world in education (except to tell us we rebelled against Britain) or entertainment. I think that England is the only country that we do actually ever think about or are exposed to. That is mainly because of the few entertainers that have made it over here and the few movies that have become hits: Beatles, Amy Winehouse, Love, Actually, Posh and Becks. People in the US do not ever really give much thought to the outside world, something that probably seemed a bit obvious to you after spending some time with your cousin. It is just that our environment is not setup to let people observe other cultures, and also remember that the United States is about the same size as the European Union. That being said, I think that Americans think that the English smoke a lot, cuss a lot, drink a lot, and do not get much sun (meaning, everyone's really pale with bad teeth-sorry ;>). I also think that Americans somehow see the English as drinking a lot but still having sticks up their butts and being completely enthralled in royalty and English tea.

England is a whole new world to us and we are really surprised on a lot of the things you do, say, and everything really. I've asked a lot of questions about England and im shocked. Just be happy your there and not here and dont worry about the rest.

You English like football and America way too much.Americans think Britain is in a time warp and the Royal Family keep that impression going. We think you have cream teas and drive quirky cars and beat dusty carpets in the back garden. Borat in his film dealt with some clueless feminists which is how England is considered in America.Communication must follow a script of compliments or else.British dislike of government and taxes then crying for government aid when things get tough sound just like us.Liberals seem to be the same on both sides, they are vegetarians except weekends and holidays. Many Americans are deprived but are told they have alot. Our self absorbed attitude is a protection mechanism to keep us satisfied so pointing out that we are clueless will just make us mad.Just enjoy the sexy accent like we do.

real americans are more inclined to germany, for the food, beer and engineering, italy for the food & culture, or france simply for thanks for 1783 however many americans, the type who love celebrities, can't get enough of the brits, the queen, the accent, hugh grant, they love all that crap. these americans, in my opinion, secretly wish they were still under british rule.

well, there are all the things ya hear growing up; bad teeth, boiled meat, sheepshagers, etc...lmao However, this is not how I found it to be when I have gone there. I am not familiar with most of the country, as I stayed in Leicestershire pretty much the entire time of my visits, but I thought it was absolutely beautiful. The people were so friendly and thoughtful! (I am from southern California, so I am not used to that lol) Yeah, I think the younger generation might all be binge drinkers lol, but at least everyone got along! Whenever we went to the pubs the whole place was alive with hapiness. The countryside was magnificent. Everywhere we went, except maybe Leicester, was very clean. All in all, it is a beautiful place with lovely people. I am actually planning to move there and can't wait! Of course there are a few cultural differences, but that will happen any time you go to another country. Although, it could also just be my boyfriend who is weird to me lmao. As I spent the whole time with him, my frame of reference is somewhat limited lol.

We really don't know a lot about your country. In school, we study about how different wars helped form our country. So, basically, we just know what we see on TV and you know how that can distort many things. I'm sure, that unless you've been here, it's the same way for you. I guess that most of us think that the english tend to not like americans and are a little "stuffy". I personally don't know if it's true, but that's how they are perceived most of the time. I've never thought about where your landmarks are and really haven't cared (I don't live there). I would like to visit and I'm sure it's beautiful.

I think it's always cloudy and everythings really close together, like buildings and streets. I think people over there are really friendly and I love the English accent. I imagine things are more laid back over there and people are way too overly obsessed with soccer ha ha. Um everyone has bad teeth and all smell of wine . . .
