Where is the best place to go camping?
-
I havnt been camping before, thought it would be nice cheap and cheerful holiday - any ideas on the best places with good facilities either Devon or Cornwall we are a middle aged couple, we like a bit of entertainement but not somewhere we are going to be surrounded by kids and teenagers (my sons are no help as they only go to those places - so thats all they know).

Answer:
Unfortunately for you Devon and Cornwall, with all their beautiful and wonderous attractions, are always going to attract families. I have been over the last few years and families abound. A fantastic site can be found at http://www.perransprings.co.uk/ . Do not be put off by the holiday 'park' slant - it is relatively small, well kept, quiet, well maintained and set in great surroundings. I am going again in three weeks time. One place you may want to try outside of D&C is Dorset. Stunning countryside, calm, peaceful yet enough to do. A friend of mine visits rockley park in Hamworthy near Poole every year and raves about it. (Haven't got a website sorry.)

hi. the new forest is grreat, but you will need to phone the forestry commission to see if there are any vacancies,i wouldnt advise you to turn up on the hope of a place being available.... trelawne manor in looe cornwall is very nice. its a very peaceful camp, there is a club, for entertainment, and usual holiday club for the youngsters, a fishing lake and small sandy beach .....i went there a few years ago,for a quiet break its ideal-but if you are taking kids its probably not lively enough.

yorkshire is great for camping...not a lot of children either and not a lot of social clubs to get rowdy teens from in the evening why they go bk to there tents etc..yorkshire is also great for walking. the town centres are nice and they have some good bakeries to. and if you can make it to the moores there is a nice restraunt in the middle of no where it serves some realy nice meals gorgeous in fact. you must try a steak dinner. and a prawn cocktail to start of with..youll love it and be sure to go to the white horse on the hill theres a realy nice walk on the top of the cliffs..where ever you decide have a good time..

I spent my childhood campin in the New Forest and i adored it, yes there can be a few kids around but you can always get away from it all in the forest itself. plus the ponies are a bonus.
